Trees in Silhouette

Love the idea of the ‘distance of a watching lens’. We usually associate a lens with being more personal and scrutinizing, but (maybe you meant this, or maybe you didn’t) it is actually a barrier, and a reminder of where we stand when we look with longing at something..

Thank you, James. I guess I was being more literal when speaking of the distance of the watching lens. I was referring to the breaking sun, the clouds, and the actual distance away from the captured scene as combining to make the silhouette effect. I was on a trail on the ridge on the other side of the canyon…and given the limitations of my simpler camera, it caused the trees to be in shadow-form. Anyway…. 🙂
I think it’s interesting that the lens would be referred to as a barrier, too…yes, we have to look through it and it can often distort what we believe we are seeing, but just as often, I think, we wouldn’t be able to see the object of our longing without it. Certainly something to ponder…thank you, again. 🙂

I got married in this canyon – a beautiful outdoor wedding! And thanks for pointing out the typo on my latest posting. I seem to do that automatically.
