City Paint 6.1 – Becoming
In the same alley where we visited and found the murals in City Paint 4 – Tucked-Away Alley-Way, there are the beginnings of another mural. I discovered it last week and visited it again this weekend and found that significant progress has been made. If you look at the third photo in the Tucked-Away series, you can see the blank wall at the far left of the shot. That is where this mural is coming to life. I will be returning weekly to monitor the progress.
These first three shots are from last weekend…
The last three shots are from this weekend…

This is priceless, to be able to capture these archetypal energies as they emerge from nothingness into a numinous consciousness. I wonder if the artist(s) know the hidden archetypal/mythological depths that are being plumbed in this work?

And a priceless comment, too, Robert, thank you. It is a special experience to watch the story unfold, literally, one weekend at a time, from a shadowy substance to a more elemental one. It’s an interesting thought, too, about whether or not the artists are aware of the archetypal/mythological depths they are plumbing. It would be an unusual conversation to start with them if I happened to see them out working on the mural. 🙂 Thank you, my friend…I so appreciate your perspective. 🙂

I agree, Chillbrook…this is an unusual event, a tutorial, as you said. You’re welcome for the post…and I’ll be watching with you. 🙂

Aha, so they sketch it first. I thought they just took a can of paint and started spraying. I was wondering how they could possibly see what they were doing on such a gigantic canvas. This answers a lot of questions. Thanks!

I can’t wait to see the finished article, it’ll be interesting to see how long it takes.

This is unexpected, and educative. the gradual birth of the street art is captivating. Thanks for posting this.

I have never really thought that work like this would be planned and done over time. I am looking forward to seeing it progress over time.
April 17, 2012 at 4:18 pm
Yes, Leanne, I had thought it would be more spontaneous, somehow. It was a nice surprise to see the progress…and I’ll be going back to capture more of it to share. Thank you. 🙂

A very gifted artist.
Thanks for sharing the images as the mural progresses – very interesting to see. I never pass Street Art often enough to see any artist’s at work.
