  5. Is it a HDR-picture? No matter what, the colors are amazing.

    May 17, 2012 at 12:34 pm

    • No, it’s not HDR, Yvonne…all I did was darken it a bit by adding/accenting the shadows…that brought out the colors in the pipe and brick. I’m glad you like it. 🙂

  6. Really like this one – great colours and composition.

  7. A solid and imposing presentation Scott…. Strangely powerful with its rich color and edge blur……it could give me vertigo… 🙂
    Very impressive, regards, John.
    …….. And it launches me as a follower….. Yippee…..

  9. That is fantastic. I love the way you have photographed it and edited it. The rust in the cylinder shape is fantastic. So, what is it?

    • Thank you, Leanne…seemed to jump out at me from the skyline…turned the corner from shooting some photos in an alley and there it was. I’m not sure exactly, other than a smoke-stack or vent, but it is in downtown Salt Lake, removed from any industrial works, so it is probably a relic from earlier times…kind of pretty today, though. 🙂

  10. Well, I certainly think you got its good side! 😛

    • Seems that way, doesn’t it, Eve? Thank you. 🙂

  11. I’m guessing an abandoned ICM silo . . . I hear the West (and South, and East, and North) are rife with them.

    Very striking. And the color . . . I would not mind that as a finish on my car. . . . and gun . . .

    May 18, 2012 at 8:09 pm

    • Hmm…only thing I can relate to ICM silo is for missiles? Is that what you mean? This is in downtown Salt Lake…I suppose it could be, but not sure. I do rather like the colors, as well…and I do think it would be nice on a gun barrel. 🙂

      May 18, 2012 at 9:24 pm

      • Yes, missiles. I meant to type ICBMs, but missed the “B”. And downtown Salt Lake would be the perfect place for it as no one would suspect it.

        May 18, 2012 at 9:58 pm

        • I considered it with the “B” in there…and you’re probably right…nobody would suspect it. 🙂

  12. You’ve made this inanimate object come to life. Like Yvonne above, I wondered if this was HDR, but you’ve explained that it wasn’t.

    • Thank you, Steve…nope, no HDR, just a bit of shadow. Thank you for visiting again. 🙂

  14. Hello Scott, you’ve got a great eye for what will make a great image. We pass scenes like this every day without a second glance but you’ve made it into something fascinating. I love it.
