Lovely billowing cumulus clouds – the trees provide a perfect foreground contrast

Thank you, Andy…it was wonderful to watch the clouds move-in over the mountains.

I wonder if those trees are spruce or fir. It looks like they’ve had a rough life. Avalanches?

I’m not sure about the exact type of tree, Allen, but I know we have both conifer varieties here…. These trees are literally up on the top ridge of the mountains, so no avalanches for these, just the extreme cold and un-blocked wind.

This works very well – a simple (in a good way) composition. I imagine that it would be interesting to covert to an HDR image to really pop the colour of the sky and clouds.

Thank you, Adrian. I don’t have a good tool for conversion to HDR, but I imagine that greater detail would be nice to see.

I see two Muppets arising out of the trees… Grover talking to the Cookie Monster? 😉

How strange Scott, i was working on a cloud photo just like that today. You have to be at the right place at the right time…. and you definitely were….. and I wasn’t………. your trees are full of interest and character………excellent, especially with the overall blue light.

Gives an incredible feeling, doesn’t it!

Yes, it does, Terry…up on the ridge with nothing above, but the clouds and sky…wonderful. 🙂

Powerful image. The great cedars against the sky. You caught them at the perfect cloud moment too!
