Dromedary Peak in January

I think it rather looks like a pencil drawing…but this is the image, essentially right out of the camera…I have only cropped and framed it…not messed with the color in the least.  If you’d like a summer comparison, you can click these words to be taken back to an earlier post that shared images from July, 2012.

  1. That is a nice look . . . and yes, it does look charcoal drawn.

  3. Very wintry. My eyes follow the ‘S’ shape that swings down from Rt to left.

  5. Looks like a tough climb Scott! Have you ever tried it in winter?

    • I would guess that it is, Allen…have never been to the top of it, summer or winter…but maybe someday….

  6. That is a great image Scott! I wish that I could get up to some of the peaks that I visit in summer.

    • Thank you, Terry…most of my hiking in this season is on the trails, rarely wander off, especially on the exposed slopes…but I know that feeling, that urge to be up there….

  7. Absolutely amazing lighting to create that pencil drawn look. Another gorgeous shot indeed. It’s marvelous to look at, but it looks so cold up there.

    • The light was quite amazing, Gunta…and the photo was a surprise with the sky and snow blending into each other like this…and yes, it was rather cold out there…had to keep moving to keep the wind from creating too much of a chill.

  8. This mountain says “climb me”! And bring gaiters…
what a serenely beautiful composition, Scott.

    • It sure does, Karen…and the gaiters are a MUST out there. I’m glad you enjoyed the photo…thank you.

This is a very interesting image. What type of settings were you using to get that quality of light & contrast ?

    January 12, 2013 at 3:52 pm

    • The camera was set on automatic for snowy scenes…the sky was overcast and the lighting was what you see in the photo…nothing fancy. I thought it was interesting, too…thanks, Elmediat…..
