I took me a minute, but I know where the other rail is. A train hasn’t run that track for a while, I’d guess.

Nope…that other rail couldn’t be too far away…and yes, I’d gather that it’s been quite a while. This is part of the line that brought the ore from Eureka to the old Tintic Standard Reduction Mill…the old place with all of the graffiti on it from a few posts back.

What happened to the other side? For me, being not American, images of railways really signify to me the old west and my image of it. Great shot, love the colours in it Scott.

Oh, the other rail didn’t go very far away, Leanne…you can still see a spot of it in a little clearing of the brush toward the left side of the image. We’ve got rail-lines all over the country, too…but I can understand the thinking that they are/were prominent in the typical West. Thank you for the nice words, Leanne….

Great detail in the foliage and with nice rich colour and tones, leading to a soft light on the hills, giving the scene depth……all beautifully rendered.
You have a very good lens on that camera of yours……….and a fine eye for a good photograph.

Well…in this instance, I think I’ll try to appeal to your engineer’s mind and mention the integrity of the rails in their current state…. You do “stress” work, right? The outer edges of the rail have become brittle with the natural decomposition of being out there in the elements for almost 100 years…. While someone might get a good start out into the future, I would imagine that a certain amount of peril would come their way soon enough…but hey, I could very easily be wrong….. 🙂

Well yes, if you put it that way…but I don’t think we’d launch out into the future on rails in this condition…unless we had no options…like in “Back to the Future” maybe…?
