green umbrella

The “winter gate” is still closed in Millcreek Canyon…allowing pedestrian and bicycle traffic clear passage to the end of the road without the interference of motor vehicles, excepting the occasional motorist who actually lives or stays at one of the cabins further into the greenwood. ย The road is closed from the first of November until the first of July…or I could say that it’s only open from the first of July to the first of November…at any rate, here’s another glimpse into the marvelousness of full Spring in Millcreek Canyon…the snow is gone and the Green has returned…and it’s a beautiful place to take a walk….. ย If you’d like another look at the green explosion that is MillCreek Canyon in season, you can visit my post from last July for another saturated view of the place, Millcreek Canyon in Green.

    • It seems that I remember someone saying that in the past, too…someone with bug-juice on his sunglasses and dragonfly welts on his chest and arms……. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  10. That looks a beautiful place to walk under that marvellous canopy, Scott

    June 16, 2013 at 1:56 pm

    • It sure is, Andy…..and it’s the same place/road/trail where I made the photos of the cross-country skier entering the tunnel of the snow-covered trees in this post here…. It’s amazing what a difference a few feet of snow can make…and a couple of months time in their passing, as well.

  12. A great image. Wandering under those giant umbrellas of foliage sure makes the people look small. Very nice!

  13. So full of gorgeousness! Would that it were open in winter because I would love to see it covered in snow too.

    • Hi, Naomi…people are actually allowed past the winter gate, just not vehicles. During the winter, folks use the road for cross-country skiing and snow-shoeing…’s a link to what it looks like in the winter: It’s beautiful in all seasons….
