Sonora Desert wildflowers

I’m not sure of the names of most of them…and I had found another handful or so while on my two most recent hikes along the Black Canyon Trail, but the sun was either too bright and washed-out the photos, or the images were out of focus, so here is the remnant.  A couple of the photographs are of subjects other than wildflowers, but they stuck me as visually appealing, so I included them, as well.  Remember, you can click on any image to be taken to a slide-show that presents the photos in a larger format.

Can you tell me the month and year these photos were taken–and just where in Arizona, from what city?

    • Hello James – I made these images in February and March of this year…at a particular location on the Black Canyon Trail that is about ten miles north and five miles west of the community named “Anthem.”

    • I had heard about that white stuff up there….and thank you for the link. I was going to use the “Emilio school of plant naming” technique, but decided against it…didn’t think it would be quite up to your standards, so I just left it alone…. 🙂

  4. Desert flowers are so amazing…They endure such physical hardship to reach the day they bloom, when that moment does arrive they are so beautiful.

    • They certainly are, Charlie….and now the cacti are blooming, as well. 🙂

  5. I saw quite a few wildflowers before I left. Too bad we couldn’t have hooked up while I was out there! Lovely images!

    • It took a little longer for them to come out up here…at least I didn’t notice them to the degree that you shared them in your images…the blooming cacti, anyway. Yes, it would have been nice to meet and to show you some of our murals up here…maybe next time. 🙂

    • The desert and near-desert seems to be painted yellow right now, with all of the Brittlebush and Palo Verde trees and wildflowers in bloom at the same time…it is quite wonderful…and there’s a nice perfume in the air, as well. 🙂
