This photo is stunning. Great play of colors and there is a surprise doggy back there.

Thank you, Mike…and yes, we got a surprise doggy in there, too. 🙂

Nice one, Scott. Would it be worth cropping out the distracting white sky? Or am I just being annoyingly picky? 🙂

Perhaps it would have been better if the sky was blue, but I think you need the sky to give a sense of scale. If you crop it out, you wouldn’t be able to tell how much the canyon towers over the trees…just my two cents.

You might remember that the skies are often/mostly white here in the desert, Laura…it’s not often that we notice a true, rich blueness to them…and you’re correct, or shared my opinion, anyway, we needed the sky to show the height of the canyon walls…..so we’ve got four cents together. 🙂

Thank you, Frank…I had experimented with cropping-out the white sky, but wanted the dimension that it added in showing the height of the cliffs.

It was rather nice down there in the canyon, Gunta…almost chilly in the morning, but then warmer after the sun crept over the cliffs. I didn’t venture into the water, but a met a fellow-hiker who was in her swim-suit, and when I asked if she had gone swimming, she said that she had, and while it was refreshing, it was freezing. 🙂
