Sunrise and shortly thereafter…my favorite times to be hiking in the desert…unless it’s an overcast day with frost on the fingers!

just seen a similarly back-lit shot of a cactus from Steve Schwartzman. Two great images in one morning! Such sharp spines – this is surely the best way to shoot cacti – it turns something that we often shy away from into a thing of beauty.
