City Paint Phoenix 17 – Tribute to Bowie
When a couple of you mentioned that the man in the last installment of City Paint Phoenix looked like David Bowie, it reminded me that I had previously observed a section of city wall that had actually been decorated with images that were very distinctly Bowie.
The mural is located at 1715 N 7th Street in Phoenix, about one block north of McDowell Road for any local readers….
While I was never a fan, I understand that David Bowie was an iconic figure in the music world for a period that spanned decades.
So instead of blabbing on and on about the guy and his career from any research that I would have had to conduct in order to do so, I will simply offer that I find the mural and the skill of the artist to be rather compelling….

A labour of love by the looks of things Scott. Like you, I was never a fan but Bowie was a big part of my growing up in the UK in the ’70’s. No doubt a prodigious talent and certainly an iconic figure. These murals are quite a tribute!

Like most of your followers (and you), I can’t even recall anything done by Bowie, but the artist who did the street art is pretty amazing. Your photos aren’t bad either! 😀

Just wanted to thank you for the great pictures, but most of all posting the actual address! Everywhere else I look online that talks about the David Bowie tribute just lists some vague cross-streets, which isn’t helpful if you aren’t that familiar with that particular area. Thanks to you I was able to pull it up on Google Maps so I could see what’s in the area and plot a course to it using Valley Metro when I’m down in Arizona later this week!
